About Me
Welcome! I am Heather Godfrey. My university background includes double degrees in Journalism and Psychology from Indiana University. I employed a classical curriculum to homeschool our third son through high school. Subsequently, I tutored another homeschooled family for four years. That instruction included reading, spelling, history, writing, grammar, and English.
Most recently, I taught English 12 in a public charter school in Milwaukee, which included becoming licensed to teach English by the state of Wisconsin.
I have been married to my husband, Steve, for 35 years! We have three sons, a daughter-in-love, and a granddaughter. Steve and I had the adventure of serving as missionaries in Siberia, Russia, for 8 years. We lived and worked in Irkutsk, sunny southern Siberia! We grew to love the people and Siberian culture as we planted churches, disciples individuals, and partnered with orphanages. We both became fluent in Russian and have traveled back to visit our “family” many times since our return to the States. We currently live in Waukesha, Wisconsin.
I love exercising and gardening. I am a lifelong learner and always have books on several subjects around the house. I am an entrepreneur and bring a growth mindset to every adventure.
My Passion
I am passionate about sharing my love of learning, hopeful optimism and fascination with the English language with my students. I truly believe that we need to teach our kids to lead. The world needs leaders full of hope, integrity and purpose. The more skilled our scholars are writing with clarity and speaking with confidence- the more compelling they will be as they lead their communities, families, churches and businesses.
My year in a public school classroom cemented my belief that my purpose is to teach students to think critically; question everything and be overwhelmingly prepared to make their own educated decisions. Giving students the tools to write concisely, speak confidently and read analytically will catapult them to the front of the leadership line.
